A Guide to New Zealand’s Blue Pools

The New Zealand Blue Pools are well known in the Instagram world, and it's not hard to see why! A perfect oasis of icy cold pure blue water gurgling under a picturesque swinging bridge that makes for incredible photos. What more could you want?

The Blue Pools are located in Mount Aspiring National Park on the road from Franz Josef to Wanaka. You will need a car to access the Blue Pools or be lucky and have your InterCity, KiwiExperience or Stray bus driver stop off there for you!

Once you arrive at the parking lot, there's a quick 15 minute walk along a pretty boardwalk and over a suspension bridge to the Blue Pools, aptly named for their perfect blue colour, best viewed on a sunny day.

You can go for an icy dip, jump off the bridge or just enjoy the lovely scenery.
