Walking Vienna’s Ringstrasse

With only a few hours in the gorgeous city of Vienna, I made my way out of the airport to catch a train to Wien Mitte to see what I could discover. The train cost 3,90 euro and I hopped off in the middle of a windy, rainy and cold Vienna.

Nonetheless, I turned towards the iconic Ringstrasse, with all the warm and cozy buildings lit up against the dark sky. I made my way around the circular street, stopping at some of Vienna’s most well-known buildings including St. Stephen’s Cathedral, the Rathausplatz, Parliament, Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien, Albertina Art Museum, Hofburg Palace and Michaelerplatz.

Unfortunately, in the late evening, many of these places were closed up for the night so I didn’t have a chance to go in, but it was fun to wander through the streets and see what grandiose spots I could find. If you have an evening (or a layover, like I did) in Vienna, just get outside and see what you can find, no map required! I felt very safe in Vienna even in the dark and rain; I felt like it would be hard to get lost.
