Mount Maunganui Hike

We had heard only good things from other travelers about trekking up to the summit of Mount Maunganui. We can see why!

Not a lot of effort is required for this 30-40 minute trek up the summit via one of two different options for tracks but the views themselves are quite stunning. You'll be able to see the entirety of the suburb of Mount Maunganui, the coastal region of Tauranga and far out into the ocean and some of the islands dotting the coast.

Best attempted on a sunny day, this is one not-to-miss hike in New Zealand!

The next day, we headed out to Moturiki Island just off Maunganui Beach, which is accessible by a natural sand bridge. From the island, you can have magnificent views straight out to the horizon as well as looking back on Mount Maunganui, too.
