Steveston in Richmond is a cute little seaside fisherman's village that is well worth a visit! Here's my top tips for things to do:
Storybrooke
The ever popular TV series Once Upon a Time about fairytales coming to life is filmed right here in Steveston, when the town turns into Storybrooke. There are maps of the film locations available at the visitor centre, and you can wander around town and spot the Storybrooke Post Office (Steveston Post Office), Granny's Diner (Cannery Cafe), Storybrooke Coffee Co. (Steveston Coffee Company) and Mr. Gold's Pawnshop, among others.
Gary Point Park
If you go for a little walk down past the cannery and through the fishyards, you will come across Gary Point Park, complete with toilets and a deliciously smelling concession stand serving up fish and chips right on the sand.
Steveston Marina
If you come in the mornings, the marina is completely packed with fishing boats selling their freshly caught wares and you can take your pick of the best local fish.
Britannia Heritage Shipyards
You can have a wander through the historic shipyards with museums and displays. In the summer there is an annual maritime festival and there's one of Vancouver's 'piano's on the street' on the boardwalk.
Steveston Boardwalk
The infamous boardwalk provides a beautiful wander along the water's edge between the shipyard and the village.
Gulf of Georgia Cannery
For a step back in time, have a look around the historic Gulf of Georgia Cannery and see what work there was like many years ago.
