Although I can't say yet that I've been to all of Malta's other beaches to make a comparison, there's plenty of articles online in support of my statement! Riviera Beach is quite likely one of the prettiest in the country, offering visitors a lovely sandy beachfront, calm turquoise waters protected in an inlet and extraordinary views if you choose to walk the trails on the cliffs above.
The Għajn Tuffieħa view point is particularly spectacular, offering panoramic views over Riviera Beach to the right and idyllic Qarraba Bay to the left. For those with sure footing and a bit of gumption, the crumbling trails do stretch all the way along the coast around to Gnejna Beach, popular for water sports. The hiking region around these various beaches is known as Ta' Lippija; ensure you're wearing comfy shoes (not sandals, like me!) and get ready for some of the prettiest island views.
Riviera Beach is easily accessible from Sliema and Valletta by bus. Come early to nab a spot as this place is popular, much like it's famous neighbour to the north, Golden Bay.
