Hiking to the Hong Island Viewpoint in Thailand

While we were based in Ao Nang, one of our favourite day trips was a day tour to Hong Island with Get Your Guide, my long-time favourite tour-booking platform which I've used in many countries around the world. It was a full-day tour; booking a tour is the only way to visit Hong Island.

One of the highlights of the tour was the hike up to the viewpoint 109 metres above sea level at the top of Hong Island. You'll need to battle the 30° heat and the crowds but WOW is the view from the top over Phang Nga Bay SO worth it.

HONG ISLAND VIEWPOINT HIKE DETAILS

When: year-round

Where: Hong Island

Difficulty: easy, all metal stairs

Length: the 2km roundtrip took us about half an hour of moving time, for a total duration 1.5 hours including photo stops. Check out my exact route on Strava.

Directions: at the opposite end of the beach to where you arrive with the longtail boats, follow the metal stairs past the platforms all the way to the viewpoint at the end

Bathrooms: yes, at the beach

Public Transit: you can only visit Hong Island with a guided tour, such as this one from Get Your Guide
