6 Beaches to Visit on Mallorca, Spain

Mallorca is my favourite island in Europe, a delightful Spanish escape off the southern coast in the Mediterranean Sea.

One of four Balearic Islands - alongside Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera - Mallorca is quite a large island, with a huge variety of attractions, from driving mountain passes, hiking, little towns to explore, shopping and so much more.

Of course, one of the best parts of being a warm, sunny island is the many beaches to be found dotted around its perimeter. I've been to Mallorca twice, once in spring 2022 and again in late summer 2025 and I can't wait to keep coming back.

Here are my favourite beaches to visit on Mallorca, a list I hope to continue to update!

I first visited Mallorca in May 2022 and returned in August 2025 and updated the original post with all the new beaches I visited. This post was first published on 29 May 2022; last updated 16 August 2025.

Cala Pi

My favourite beach from my first visit to Mallorca was the idyllic Cala Pi. A set of steps carved out of ancient coral reef beds high above the present-day water level lead visitors down to the little sandy beach. Rocky outcrops provide plenty of seating for optimal sunbathing and crystal clear turquoise water beckons you in to splash about in the warm waters. Bring a book, a picnic and your snorkel for a perfect day.

I also highly recommend take a left at the sign to take in the view of the bay from the cliffs above before you head down to the beach. At the time I visited, the much-Instagrammed concrete overhang still existed overlooking the beach below. When I returned in 2025, it was no longer there, likely due to safety reasons, but the views are still great!

Public transport: yes, take bus 505 straight from Palma

Mondragó Natural Park

On the southeastern coast of the island, you'll find Mondragó Natural Park near the town of Santanyí. Come out here for the day to enjoy the stunning 1,893-acre natural park's nature, including grasslands, forests, dunes and pristine coves with bright blue water. There are plenty of waterfront rocks to set up with a book, picnic and beach towel for the day.

There are some exceptional beaches and coastal walks to enjoy in this natural reserve. Start at Caló des Borgit, a little cove with stunningly pale blue water. Then, take the coastal trail past the Nido de Ametralladoras, former secret pirate-watching towers. Finish at Cala Mondragó, my favourite stop and where I spent most of day reading on the rocks. You can also make your way to the opposite of Cala Mondragó to S’Amarador beach.

Public transport: yes, from Palma, take bus 501 (direction Campos) and get off at La Verge 2. There, transfer to bus 515 (direction Cala d'Or) and get off at Portopetro. Then grab bus 521 (direction Cala Mondragó) and get off at Sa Barca Trencada.

Ses Olles

Nestled on the south coast, just below Palma, you'll find Ses Olles. You can spend the day at the Mhares Sea Club, right above Ses Olles; we did this for a day and loved the location and views but unfortunately didn't love the prices or the service.

Otherwise you can simply spend time at the beach, snorkeling with fish in the bright blue waters and hanging out in the natural rock pools that are formed here. It's also a fantastic spot to watch the sunset.

Public transport: yes, from Palma, take bus 504 (direction Tolleric) and get off at Maioris Decima 2

Cala Llombards

This is one of Mallorca's most famous beaches and for good reason! Pure white sand, a protected blue cove and adorable little beach huts lining the bay all make for an ideal day out. It does get super busy here but if you walk around the left side a bit you'll find a bit of quiet.

Public transport: yes, from Palma, take bus 501 to Santanyí then transfer onto TIB bus 505 (summer only) to Cala Llombards

Cala Mendia

This is quite a large beach and has a beautiful protected bay popular with swimming. There was quite a bit of plastic and microplastics washing up, especially on the right side of the beach, but aside from that this is a lovely and less busy spot for a swim and a snooze in the sun.

Public transport: yes, from Palma, take bus 401 to Porto Cristo then transfer onto TIB bus 427 (summer only) to Cala Mendia

Cala Mesquida

We didn't go into the water here, having arrived as the sun was setting, but this is a gorgeous beach with incredible views of the sand dunes as you walk down from the parking lot. It's also one of the best beaches on Mallorca to go surfing from!

Public transport: yes, from Palma, take bus 401 to Molí. Transfer here to bus 411 (direction Cala Rajada) to Capedepera, where you can catch TIB bus 422 (summer only) to Cala Mesquida.
