Visiting Kravica Waterfall

While I was staying in Mostar, in southwestern Bosnia and Herzegovina, I joined an all-day tour through my hostel. We visited a number of beautiful sites in the region around Mostar with a local guide - and honestly it was brilliant.

We visited the iconic Blagaj, explored the little village of Počitelj, explored an abandoned Yugoslav bunker and enjoyed the view over Mostar from the new Skywalk.

Our final stop was at the exceptional Kravica Waterfall, a real gem and a wonderfully refreshing way to cool off for the rest of the afternoon in the hot summer heat.

How to Get to Kravica Waterfall

I visited the gorgeous Kravica Waterfall as part of a group tour through my hostel in Mostar, Hostel Nina. Almost every single hostel I looked at in Mostar offered a similar sort of tour. If you're staying elsewhere, this was a tour with Get Your Guide which I also looked at that goes to most of the same spots as my tour did.

Otherwise, it's a one-hour drive from Mostar if you have your own car. As it's also situated right on the border with Croatia, it's a popular day-trip from Dubrovnik, as well, but that is a bit further, about two and a half hours drive away.

How to Visit Kravica Waterfall

Kravica Waterfall is really a gem of Bosnia and Herzegovina. A gushing wall of water tumbles down over the lush greenery and provides the most idyllic swimming spot. The Kravica Waterfall is three kilometres downstream from Hrašljani village on the Trebizat River. The waterfall is a phenomenal 28 metres high and falls into a massive basin, which creates the ultimate swim spot.

There is a large parking lot on arrival at Kravica Waterfall. At the time of writing, entry to Kravica Waterfall cost 20 BAM (about €10) - you can check the latest ticket prices and buy your ticket online in advance on their website.

You have to walk down a number of steps to reach the basin of Kravica Waterfall, but a little shuttle train also operates if you don't want to walk. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants dotted around the basin for all your food purposes and toilets on site. If you like, boat rentals are also available if you'd like to row around the lake and get closer to the waterfall than is permitted just with swimming.
