With what's going on in the world around us, now is the perfect time to try all those things we may have never had the time to do! If you're on the lookout for some new things to fill up your time with, as I have been, here are some of the free courses I've taken over the last few weeks:
1. Resilience - The art of coping with disasters
Course offered by: Ben Gurion University of the Negev
Platform: edX
Duration to complete: This course has 8 sections, each taking 1-2 hours to complete. I did 1 section per day.
Why you should take this course: I'm all for courses that are fun and informative simply because you're interested in them, but I came across this course and found it to be incredibly applicable to what's happening in the world right now. Brilliant professors take you through detailed videos explaining all aspects of resilience and how to successfully cope with disasters that happen in the world of all nature and scale.

2. All-Around SEO
Course offered by: Yoast
Platform: Yoast Academy
Duration to complete: This course has 8 sections, each taking 1-2 hours to complete. I did 1 section per day.
Why you should take this course: If you have a website of any kind (personal or business) and you're trying to figure out how to get noticed by Google and rank higher, this course guides you through understanding exactly how to accomplish that.

3. 30 Days of Yoga
Course offered by: Yoga With Adriene
Platform: YouTube
Duration to complete: This is a 30-day course with daily yoga practices, each ranging from 15-30 minutes in length.
Why you should take this course: If you would like to work on your flexibility, breathing, strength, core, meditation and yoga skills, this is an awesome introduction to all the different styles in an easy-to-follow 30 day structure.

4. Duolingo
Course offered by: Duolingo
Platform: Duolingo app or website
Duration to complete: Duolingo offers courses in 35 languages and recommends practicing daily
Why you should take this course: If you would like to pick up a brand new language or brush up on your skills, this app is the perfect way to do it. It's widely acclaimed as being one of the best ways to learn a new language and encourages daily practice. I'm studying French (Nico speaks French, being Belgian) and Nico is working on Spanish!

5. The Science of Happiness
Course offered by: University of California - Berkeley
Platform: edX
Duration to complete: This course has 9 sections. Each section took me 2-3 days.
Why you should take this course: Delve deep into the science of happiness as it relates to your emotions (both positive and negative) and your sense of well-being. Learn tricks to improve your own happiness and why - contrary to what you may think - it's okay (and normal) to not be happy all the time!
