I'm spending a week in Mallorca for a proper holiday - even though I travel pretty much non-stop with my remote work, I rarely get to just have a real holiday. While I'm here, I'm going to be spending as much time as possible outdoors, exploring the incredible mountainous landscape of the island and spotting pretty locations as I go.
Late May is an ideal time to visit if you want to be hiking and wandering between towns as this time of year provides pleasant high-20s temperatures that are perfect for being outside but not so insufferable that you'll have no energy to explore!
The idyllic little towns in the western side of the island are well worth a visit and a hike between them makes for a really lovely day out. I spent my first day in Sóller, Biniarix, Fornalutx and back again, before hopping on a bus to the posh village of Deià for the rest of the afternoon.
Buses run regularly from Palma straight into Sóller, where you can start this walk. The town itself is a touristy little spot with plenty of cafes and boutiques to explore before making your way out into the countryside. The walk will take you through quaint streets and alongside breathtaking mountainous scenery and fresh-smelling citrus tree farms all the way up to Fornalutx at the top of the valley. I had lunch in Fornalutx, before making my way back to Sóller on a different route that was a bit more of a hike along a gravel trail, versus the road which I walked up on the way there.
