If you want to properly understand how the Vancouverites function, look no further than the coffee shops that seem to be on every corner of this city.
Mink Chocolate Cafe, South Surrey
Yes, you heard that right. A cafe dedicated entirely to chocolate. Every item on the menu incorporates the delicacy of the cocoa bean – and it is all divine. Mum and I each indulged in a frozen mocha, and shared a banana chocolate waffle with warm chocolate drizzle. Heaven, am I right??
Breka Bakery, Downtown
While I was a student, this place was a favourite given it’s 24-hour open hours and big tables to spread out on. Go for one of their yummy pastries and something highly caffeinated to fuel your study grind!
49th Parallel Coffee Roasters, Kitsilano
One of the most instagrammed coffee spots in the city is 49th Parallel with its signature blue cups and hipster vibe. They also offer Lucky’s Doughnuts as an excellent side to your caffeine of choice!
Grounds for Coffee, Kitsilano
These guys boast that they are home to Vancouver’s cinnamon buns. They are. They’re gooey and oozy and warm and sugary and just perfect. Paired with an iced coffee, and this is pretty much the place to be.
Matchstick Coffee, East Vancouver
If you’re looking for a more cultured coffee experience, with the chance to try hand roasted drip coffees from around the world (and teas, too) then head to Matchstick near Main Street.
Capilano Cafe, YVR Outlets
Although only a pop-up shop, this is one of the prettiest cafes I’ve been in because my aesthetic is minimalism and neutral tones. Paired with a cold brew and a doughnut? Oh baby.
Trees Organic Coffee Co.
Most known for their cheesecakes, their mochas are deliciously rich and creamy and the perfect mix of coffee and chocolate. I guess if you’re a cheesecake expert, then sweet and sugary things are your niche? Hey, and it’s organic. Win-win.
