breakfast & brunch
It seems that brunches are a staple of all Vancouverites hobbies. I’ve compiled a list of all the best breakfast and brunch places that I’ve tried around the Lower Mainland and tested for their deliciousness.
Oru Cuisine, Fairmont Pacific Rim
Eat everything. It’s a buffet style restaurant so be sure to give yourself plenty of time to get up for a few helpings of everything delicious they have on offer. From fluffy pastries, to perfectly cooked bennies and all the fresh fruit and sides you could dream of – plus unlimited passionfruit juice. Yum!
Anchor Eatery, West Vancouver
I usually make a smoothie bowl for myself for breakfast everyday, but it’s nice to go in and have someone else make it for you with a whole cohort of different toppings and ingredients. When you’re on the North Shore, there’s really only one place you should be going for acai bowls and that’s the lovely little Anchor Eatery on Marine Drive.
Aphrodite’s Organic Cafe & Pie Shop, Kitsilano
At this delicious organic cafe, it’s hard to go wrong. They boast things like gluten free & dairy free mac’n’cheese, and it’s somehow the creamiest, most yummiest thing you can imagine. There’s apple slices in their sandwiches and it adds that perfect crunch. Pictured below is their salmon eggs benny, and it’s cooked to perfection.
Medina Cafe, Downtown Vancouver
This place is notoriously busy at prime ‘brunch’ hours, so avoid those at all costs. If you go in the middle of the day, you can nab yourself a spot without too much of a wait. Indulge yourself in their famous liege-style waffles, and spoil yourself with liquid lavender chocolate drizzle. Looking for something more hearty? Their Saumon Fume features a perfectly fried egg with smoked wild salmon cream cheese, avocado, arugula, sweety drop peppers, artichoke salad on grilled ciabatta. Mmmmm.
Indigo Age Cafe, Gastown
A tiny, vegan, hipster sort of place is nestled near Gastown. Head down the stairs to this underground haven and dig into a sunrise bowl stuffed with acai, granola, goji berries, fruits, nuts, seeds and coconut.
