On a sunny Sunday, Sam and I drove up the Sea to Sky Highway to the first pull out where the Tunnel Bluffs hike starts. Be warned, the parking is notoriously awful here. There’s 10 spots right at the base of the hike which you can nab if you’re early or lucky. Don’t park in the bus spots as they will tow you (tow trucks were on site the whole time while we were hiking). There is another parking lot about a 20-minute walk further up the highway, so if the first lot fills, head there.
The start of the hike is right across the road from the parking lot in a little bush. The first thing you’ll see is a yellow sign pointing out the start of the hike, and then a few feet up is a hand-drawn map.
The trail is very clearly marked and you cannot go wrong, so long as you follow the bright markers. It’s a steep trail, and while not long in length, can be tiring due to the constant up-stepping.
We completed this hike in 1.5 hours each direction (I almost found coming down harder than going up due to the incline). The view at the top was absolutely unreal – I think the only downside to this hike was that due to it’s rapidly increasing popularity, we spent more time stepping to the side of the trail to let others pass than just being able to hike; it’s a busy one!
