valentine’s in banff

If you’re looking for a beautiful weekend escape to celebrate Valentine’s with your loved one, may I suggest the gorgeous Banff in the Canadian Rocky mountains. This quaint town sits on the edge of Alberta near the BC border, and is the perfect place to enjoy delicious food, incredible views and your partner’s company (whether that be your lover, or your best friend for a girl’s weekend getaway!).

Getting There

I flew in from Vancouver to Calgary, and then my boyfriend picked me up at the airport to make the 1.5 hour drive out west to Banff.

Where to Stay

We booked a night at the Inns of Banff, one of the first hotels as you come into town. Regularly booked for long-term stays, Sam picked this one for the stunning mountain views from our bed.

What to Eat

If you’re looking for quick but delicious eats in town, you absolutely must go to Aardvark Pizza, a tiny hole in the wall that smashes the pizza business. Image by Yelp.

For the perfect Valentine’s Day Brunch, book a reservation at the Fairmont Banff – a stunning brunch venue with mountains at every window (which are floor-to-ceiling, mind you). The food is exquisite, and you can sit for a few hours while you make your way steadily through plates of food and bottomless mimosas.

What to Do

Walk along the riverfront and take in the gorgeous mountain views at Bow Falls. In the summer, you can walk all the way up the river towards town, but the trail is covered in snow at this time of year.

Our favourite spot is the bridge that leads from the end of the Bow Falls trail into town. As you cross over you feel like you’re heading straight into the mountain.
