hike: lighthouse park

East Beach was especially lovely, with gorgeous views out towards UBC and the inlet full of moored tankers and speed boats zipping past.

That is, it was lovely until a raccoon decided to corner us on the edge of a rock surrounded on three sides by water and attack Sam’s backpack. He ripped the fabric open until he managed to pull open the zipper, take out the candy stashed away in the front pocket, rip the bag open and eat most of the contents.

After a stressful few minutes running away from the raccoon and back up the steps, Sam ran back for the backpack and we booked it out of there (as fast as I could hobble on my cast) and we decided to relocate for sunset!
