hike: grouse grind

The last time I did the Grouse Grind I said ‘never again’, but then I took my friend Scarlett up here anyway. We did manage to cut 11 minutes off my previous time, which made it worth it!

The record is 23 minutes 48 seconds, but they suggest up to 2 hours to reach the top. It’s a hike I’ve always wanted to tackle – but it’s not for the faint of heart!

At the top of the mountain are a couple restaurants, a brilliantly funny lumberjack show, gorgeous views of Vancouver, a very interesting bird demonstration and a massive grizzly bear enclosure.

On the way back down, you have to take the Skyride for $10 one way; hiking back down the Grind is not permitted.
